LIFEGUARD

JOB CHARACTERISTICS:

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Prevention of hazards, enforcement of facility rules/regulations, recognize and respond quickly to emergencies, administering care to victims
  • SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Effective communication (with patrons, coworkers, and management), teamwork with other staff, facility daily job duties, required monthly training

PREREQUISITES:

–Swim 300 yards continuously using front crawl or breaststroke only
–Tread water for 3 consecutive using only legs
–Starting in the water, swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7 – 10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting point with object and exit the water without using a ladder or steps, within 1 minute and 40 seconds.
–Must be 15 years old by the first day of class
–Must attend ALL classes in the session
–We provide CPR, Rescue-Breathing, and Emergency Oxygen manuals and supplies
–Bring the following to class: Swim suit, Towel, and a writing utensil

CERTIFICATION CLASS SESSIONS: (American Red Cross Certification)

  • SESSION 1:
    • Tuesday, December 27th from 8am-5pm
    • Wednesday, December 28th from 8am-5pm
    • Thursday, December 29th from 8am-5pm
    • Friday, December 30th from 8am-5pm

SWIM INSTRUCTOR/WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR/COACH

JOB CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Able to identify equipment geared towards lesson plan and needs of swimmers

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Teaching participants from entry level-competitive level of swimming, following lesson plans and being able to teach it in a manner that swimmers are able to improve to the next level.

PREREQUISITES:

–Must be 15 years old by the first day of class
–Must attend ALL classes
–Bring the following to class: Swim suit, Towel, and a writing utensil

CERTIFICATION CLASSES: (American Red Cross Certification)

–All training and certification is scheduled with management

FRONT DESK ATTENDANT

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • The Front Desk Attendant will be responsible for greeting the Aquatic Center patrons and dealing with transactions like entrance fees, concession stand items and other activity fees. They will serve as an ambassador for the Aquatic Center with a cheerful and positive attitude. Incumbent must demonstrate a strong personal commitment to the mission and goals of the Lee’s Summit R-VII School District.

PREREQUISITES:

–Must be 16 years of age and comfortable in leading groups of 10 or more.

–Ability to exhibit a positive approach in public contact and a calm nature in problem solving situations.


SCOREBOARD OPERATOR

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • The Scoreboard Operator is responsible for the board and timing system operations during swim meets. Operators are expected to keep accurate/timely information on the Daktronics scoreboard.

PREREQUISITES:

–Must be 16 years of age or older.

–Must at least have a basic knowledge of swim meets and how they are conducted.
