Are you ready for another year of summer swimming? We are excited to offer this opportunity to all school age kids in the Kansas City area. The Gators Swim Team is dedicated to providing quality recreational swimming while promoting the values of good sportsmanship and fair play – all in a fun and safe environment. The LS R-7 Gators Swim Team is a recreational summer team with a moderately competitive emphasis. The Gators Swim Team teaches fundamental stroke technique, goal setting, and provides training for competition around the Greater KC metro area. Our coaching staff prepares swimmers with sound fundamentals that advance their level of swimming abilities to help improve their skills and reach progressive goals.


  • For swimmers who are ages 6-18, as of Fall 2016.
  • All participants must have passed American Red Cross Swim Lessons Level 4 OR be able to perform both, Freestyle (front crawl), Backstroke (back crawl), and Breaststroke for at least 25 yards. Prior knowledge of Butterfly is recommended.

Be the first to register at our LS R-7 Gators Swim Team open house on Saturday, April 22nd from 10a-12p, at the LS R-7 Aquatic Center. Prospective participants, as well as their friends and family members, are welcome to meet the coaches, ask questions, and try-on team suits.


Gators Swim Team 2017 Information

  • Registration starts Saturday, April 22, 2017
  • The deadline for the Early Bird Registration is May 27, 2017 at 12pm.
  • All registrations after May 27th will be charged a late fee of $15.00 per swimmer.
  • Registration will not be accepted after June 5th, 2017.

  • Swim Team Fees:
    • Each swimmer fee includes a swim cap, team shirt, team picture, ribbons, championship fees, and team medal.
      • (1) Swimmer: $180
      • (2) Swimmers: $320
      • (3) Swimmers: $460
      • Late Fee (registrations that are submitted after May 27th): $15
    • Team Swimsuits: (optional)
      • Swimsuits are available for purchase on site through Swim Things on April 22nd, May 30th and May 31st, or set up date for suit try on and purchase directly with Swim Things.

      • Refunds*:
        • There are no refunds once payment has been received; however, if the swimmer cannot participate in the season after sign-ups, we will issue a prorated credit of $100 for future LS R-7 Aquatic Center use.

  • Team pictures will be taken June 13th at 7:00 PM.
  • All age-groups will be participating.

  • Practice starts on Tuesday, May 30th, and will be held at the LS R-7 Aquatic Center.
    • Ages 10 & Under practice on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings from 6:00pm-7:15pm.
    • Ages 11 & Up practice on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings from 7:00pm-8:15pm.

  • Meets will be held each Saturday throughout the Kansas City Metro Area and at the Lee’s Summit R-7 Aquatic Center.
  • The league combines boys/girls and divides all events by age. The age groups are 8 and under, 9 & 10, 11 & 12, 13 & 14, and 15-18.

Volunteers are an extremely important part to making meets operate successful.  It takes approximately 60 individual volunteers each meet.  It is a great way to see the meet close up and enjoy your time.  Without your help we are unable to run an efficient and affective meet. You will receive your $40 volunteer refund if you or a representative for your family volunteer for at least 4 swim meets.

  • Swim Meet Volunteer Positions:
    • Below you will find information on the various volunteer positions available to you. Please take time to review the information below and sign up for volunteer positions on the Gator Summer Swim Team registration sheet before each meet.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
      • Timers: (6-8 volunteers per half) Verifies start and end times of swimmers. One timer is needed for each lane.
      • Back up Timers: (6-8 volunteers per half) Verify times of timers and provide a break, if needed. One back up timer is needed for each lane.
      • Starter/Announcer: (1 volunteers per half) Starts the events/races via the PA system and calls for swimmers in next event, while keeping the meet on schedule.
      • Clerk of the Course: (1 volunteers per half) Ensures all swimmers are aware of their scheduled events prior to the meet and arrive at the zoo when their event is called.
      • Zookeeper: (1 volunteers per half) Puts swimmers in order by heat and event and ensures they are ready to swim.
      • Awards Table: (4 volunteers per half) Assists in handing out ribbons and awards to swimmers.
      • Runners: (2 volunteers per half) Delivers cards from the timers to the awards table.
      • Place Judges: (2 volunteers per half) Judges 1 – 6th places and arranges the swimmers in order according to finishing position.
      • Stroke & Turn Judge: (2 volunteers per half) we will provide training for Stroke & Turn judges. Training will take place in Belton and all parents from every team will be trained the same and receive a card for the SMSL league. The time and date is to be determined. We have to have at least 4 for every meet.
