The Middle School Diving program develops a fun and unique learning environment for any middle school student that wants to learn the sport of diving. This program is perfect for all levels of diving experience; novice to elite. The core focus is skill development for jumps, line-ups, dives, flips, and twists. The goal is to develop a fundamental foundation of mastering the five competitive dives for front, back, inward, reverse, and twist dives. Diving is a great sport for athletes who have gymnastics, dance, acro, skateboarding, and/or trampoline experience.
How does dive meet scoring work?
Judges examine four parts of each dive: the starting position, the take-off, the flight, and the entry into the water. Each judge’s impression of all four parts then must be combined to arrive at an overall score, outlined on the following scale. To find the overall score, the judges' scores are added together, and then multiplied by the degree of difficulty (DD) rating of the dive. CBS Sports Video Explanation.
