Summer Surge Swim Team

Available to swimmers ages 6-18, as of May 31st, 2026.

This program is intended for swimmers who demonstrate the ability to swim at a novice to moderate skill level. This program is NOT open to participants who cannot swim the required distance for participation in the program or are learning to swim.

Swimmers ages 8 and younger must be able to efficiently swim a 50 yard freestyle and backstroke. Participants 9 & older must be able to swim 100 yards freestyle and backstroke.

Registration opens Friday, March 6th, 2026 at 10:00am (CST). 

We will have an open house event on Thursday, May 7th from 5:30 to 6:00pm at the LSR-7 Aquatic Center.

A $15.00 late fee per swimmer will apply to all registrations beginning Wednesday, May 13th, 2026.

Registrations will not be accepted after Friday, May 22nd.

Suits are not required for this season. Suits may be purchased in person at Swim Things store off Hwy 40 anytime throughout the season.

Male Jammers: $43.20 + tax

Practice Days & Times:

Group A) Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings from 5:30-6:50pm

Group B) Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings from 7:00-8:20pm

• Practice lanes will be assigned by putting like-skilled swimmers together to ensure we are able to provide a positive and fun learning experience for the swimmers. This may mean they can move up or down and maybe throughout the program.
• Swimmers per lane will vary on the program registration numbers and keeping like skilled swimmers together. This means that we may accommodate up to a maximum of 10 swimmers per practice lane.

Surge Summer Swim Team Meets

Meet schedule is as follows. Please understand that dates and host location are subject to change as the season approaches.

The 2026 Summer Surge team photo will be on Monday June 23rd at 6:30pm at the Aquatic Center. Swimmers must wear their team shirt, which will be distributed at a prior practice.

Surge Summer Swim Team participants may elect to compete in the end-of-season summer championships. Championship entry is not included with SSST enrollment.

Swimmers may elect to participate in end-of-season championships. 

Championship Swim Meets

Registration opens Monday, June 15th, 2025 at 10:00am (CST). 

Registrations will not be accepted after Friday, July 10th.

Cost: $12 entry fee per swimmer.    +/- $15 fee for championships shirt.

Each Swimmer Fee Includes A Swim Team Cap, Team Shirt, Team Picture, And Ribbons.

(1) Swimmer: $210.00

(2) Swimmers: $380.00

(3) Swimmers: $550.00

There are no refunds once payment has been received; however, if the swimmer cannot participate in the season after sign-ups for any reason outside of a medical issue (doctor’s note required), we will issue a prorated credit for future LSR7 Aquatic Center use in the amount of $90 prior to one week before the first practice, and $45 within one week of the first practice. Cancellation once practices have begun will not receive a credit of any amount.

Volunteers are an important key in making meets successful: it takes approximately 60 volunteers each meet. Volunteering is a great way to see the meet up close and enjoy the energy of the competition. Without your help, we are unable to run an efficient and effective meet. You will receive your $30 volunteer refund if you or a representative for your family volunteers for at least 3 swim meets.

Swim meet volunteer positions:

Timers: (16) verifies start and end times of swimmers. One timer is needed for each lane.

Starter/announcer: (1) starts the events/races via the pa system and calls for swimmers in next event, all while keeping the meet on schedule.

Clerk of the course: (2) ensures all swimmers are aware of their scheduled events prior to the meet and that all swimmers arrive at the zoo when their event is called.

Zookeeper: (3) puts swimmers in order by heat and event, and ensures that they are ready to swim.

Awards table: (2) assists in handing out ribbons and awards to swimmers.

Runners: (2) delivers cards from the timers to the awards table.

Place judges: (2 ) judges 1st – 6th place and arranges the swimmers in order according to finishing position.

Stroke & turn judge: (4) we will provide training for stroke & turn judges. Training will take place online through the head coach.  We have to have at least 4 for every meet.
